Volume number 16 of the author's national edition, very good maroon cloth hardcover with gilt letter to spine shows mild shelf wear and soil including touch of rubbing at edges and bumping to corners with light fray and bit of rub through, tiny tears at spine ends, hint of exposure toning along spine, dulling to gilt at spine tail, touch of soil at page edges, browning to pages 108-109 and lesser bit of same at next two pages, along with some other mild trace wear. 408 pages with 3 black & white plates by Beard and frontispiece illustration of Twain. Still an attractive copy that makes up an installment in the works of Mark Twain.
Synopsis
The original American satiristCracked on the head by a crowbar in nineteenth-century Connecticut, Hank Morgan wakes to find himself in King Arthur's England. Branded by Twain's aptitude for broad comedy and biting social satire, the grim truths of Twain's Camelot-fear, injustice, ignorance-resound as clearly now as when it was written
