At the beginning of the text is a double page map showing map of ancient Mexico. Blue coloured endpapers. Red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with purple and black coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the backstrip. Volume 2: – (4), V-VII, (5), 436 pages. At the beginning of the text there is a double page map of ancient Mexico. Blue coloured endpapers. Red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip and bright blue coloured tint to the top textblock edge. Illustrated dustwrapper with purple and black coloured titles to the front panel and black colour titles to the backstrip. The history of the conquest of Mexico, how the Aztec civilisation, and of its king Montezuma, fell to the Spanish conquistadors under the leadership of Cortez. Everyman's Library numbers 397 and 398. Volume 1: – Rubbing to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and to the lower book edges. Very light aged toning of the textblock edges and of the internal pages. Chipping to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and to the top dustwrapper corners. Fading to the backstrip and rubbing to the dustwrapper panels. Browning to the verso of the dustwrapper. Volume 2: – Rubbing to the head of the backstrip and rubbing to the book corners. Light age toning of the internal pages.
