About This Item
Philadelphia: T.B. Peterson & Brothers, 1863. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of one of the more obscure historical romances by Dumas Pere (Dumas Davy de la Palletere, 1802-1870); set in the Napoleonic Wars, a translation from the French "Conscience l'innocent." Not common; an edition published in 1855 was under a different title. Brown cloth binding, ruled on the covers with the publisher logo; the spine lettering is gilt, along with a design of three soldiers with fixed bayonets. Clean text; 400 pages. There are several clovers laid into pp 354-55 (one of them with four leafs). Generally a bright text, with occasional spotting. Corners are bumped, and there is rubbing to the head and foot of the spine. A solid copy, if not the most beautiful, of this scarce work.. First Thus. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
