About This Item
Venice: Johannes and Gregorius de Gregoriis, 1491. Early Edition. Softcover. Very Good Condition. Later, likely 19th century, paper boards, spine worn. Staining and browning, mostly early on, scattered stains elsewhere, some discoloration and worming in the inner margin, minor loss of at the bottom in the gutter of the first few leaves, repair to bottom margin of second leaf, scattered early marginal notes early on. Mostly clean otherwise and still very good overall. Extracted from the first complete edition of Boëthius's Opera, foliated (iv), 160-250 with a few errors, but complete.
The commentary is attributed to Aquinas but is thought to be by Thomas Waleys (1318-1349). Printed in Venice in two parts in 1491 and 1492 (Part one was printed in 1492), and reprinted with a third part also by Gregorius in 1497/98. Often described as the single most important work in the development of medeival and Renaissance Christianity. Size: Folio. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Incunabula; Philosophy. Inventory No: 045657.
