About This Item

London: Hodder & Stoughton, 2001. First edition of le Carre's spy thriller. Octavo, original navy blue boards, silk ribbon bound-in. Boldly signed by John le Carre on the title page. Near fine in a near fine dust jacket. Cover photograph by Christine Rodin. Author photograph by Simone Casetta. The Constant Gardener is a profoundly moving story of a man ennobled by tragedy, and a magnificent exploration of the dark side of unbridled capitalism by one of the most compelling and elegant storytellers of our time. The plot was based on a real-life case in Kano, Nigeria and was later adapted into the film of the same name directed by Fernando Meirelles and starring Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz.
