Neale Donald Walsch nació en Milwaukee en el seno de una familia católica que le enseñó a nunca temer a Dios. Tras abandonar la universidad, se dedicó al periodismo radiofónico, a la prensa escrita, al marketing y a diversos negocios, aunque no encontró satisfacción en ninguno de estos campos. Lo mismo le sucedía en su vida privada, con cuatro matrimonios seguidos de reñidos divorcios. Tras un accidente de coche que casi le costó la vida, la imposibilidad de trabajar y su último divorcio lo dejaron en la calle, donde vivió varios meses. En 1992, harto de las idas y vueltas de su tormentosa vida, decidió escribirle una carta a Dios. En ese momento, Neale escuchó una voz que respondió con candor a sus preguntas. Mientras escribía esas cartas llenas de preguntas, las respuestas afluían a su mente y él las escribía. Así nació Conversaciones con Dios , traducido a más de treinta y siete idiomas y con milliones de ejemplares vendidos en todo el mundo. Además de esta serie, ha publicado otros doce libros y viajado por todo el mundo intentando transmitir su mensaje. Actualmente vive en Oregón con Nancy, su esposa y compañera.
