Very Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped (21s net), lightly toned and soiled, a few creases, short tears, and chips at the top edge. Grey cloth with gilt lettering on the spine. Square and firmly bound, tidemark on the top edge, former owner's information inside the front board, stamp covered with white paper on the rear board, clean otherwise. The first UK edition of Pearce's vaguely semi-autobiographical novel about a defiant prisoner working on a Florida road gang, adapted into the 1967 film of the same title starring Paul Newman.
Synopsis
Cool Hand Luke is a 1967 American drama film starring Paul Newman and directed by Stuart Rosenberg. The screenplay was adapted by Donn Pearce and Frank Pierson from the novel by Pearce. The film features George Kennedy, Strother Martin, J.D. Cannon and Morgan Woodward. Newman stars in the title role as Luke, a prisoner in a Florida prison camp who refuses to submit to the system.
