Lugduni Batavorum: Apud Franciscum Hackium, 1658. HB. Full leather ruled in gilt, gilt designs and 4 raised bands on spine, 8vo, [24], 393, [15] pp. Engraved title page and 15 pp index at rear. Owners writing top of title page only marks in book, binding tight. Pages free of foxing. With the armorial bookplate on the front paste-down of Sir Robert Pye of Clifton (Fourth Baronette of Pye, 1696-1734). An uncommon edition of this oft printed classical biography of the leaders of Greece and Rome by Cornelius Nepos, Roman biographer (c. 100-24 BC), friend of Cicero and Atticus. Covers show some cracking and scuffing with some loss of leather, hinges are not cracked. Book condition VG-.
