About This Item
first edition, octavo, 48 page pamphlet, retains front wrapper, removed from bound pamphlet volume, front wrapper somewhat dust-soiled, text clean, else good.
The pamphlet concerns a notorious scandal of the day in which Fairchild was accused of immoral conduct after seducing and impregnating a domestic servant. The woman gave birth to the child and named Fairchild as the father and ecclesiastical trials and proceedings ensued, Fairchild's response, seemingly typical in such situations, was to accuse others, in this case Rev. Adams, of libeling him.
