London: Macmillan & Co Ltd, 1964. First edition. Crown 8vo, pp. vii, [408]. Red cloth, gilt lettering to spine. Lean to spine, wear to spine ends, bumping to top corner of upper board. Edges tanned, lightest spotting to top and fore-edge. Else, clean and tidy. In Sidney Nolan's striking dust jacket: wear and creasing to edges, joints rubbed, nicking to extremities. A good+ copy of the ninth novel in the Strangers and Brothers sequence.
