About This Item
London: John Murray, 1985. First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. The interior of the book is crisp and clean, with no marks, damage or signs of wear. The white covers are fresh, with just a touch of wear at tips and corners. The gilt spine lettering is still bright. The dust jacket is price-clipped, but is otherwise in excellent condition. The jacket is now in a protective mylar cover. Synopsis: Newly promoted, Commander Drinkwater is dispatched in haste by Earl St. Vincent to replace the captain of HMS Melusine, who has been shot in a duel. Melusine sails as escort to the whaling fleet from Hull on its annual expedition to the Greenland Sea. He is immediately confronted by the hostility of the fiercely independent whaleship masters who resent, yet require, Melusine's protection
