Inscribed by person(s) connected with book. bound in original dark blue cloth covered boards, with yellow titles on the spine, and yellow illustration on the front panel. Rubbing of the cloth at the top of the front board, exposing cardboard. Darkening of the edges of the pages. Wordsworth's bookstore sticker at the bottom left of the rear pastedown. Illustrated dust jacket is badly chipped and rubbed and torn. Inscription dated July 7, 1936 "R. N. Turner with the kindest regards of Arthur Compton". Arthur Compton who wrote the foreword to this book was Noble prize laureate for physics in 1927. as best as I can establish, R.N.Turner had co-written with Arthur Compton in 1936 – "a critical analysis for Sidereal time variations of cosmic rays on the Pacific" by Julian Thompson 10.1103/PhysRev .55.11 Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
