About This Item
Norwich: Geo Books, 1986. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Norwich, Geo Books, 1986. Quarto, xx, 433 pages with numerous illustrations, tables and maps. Colour-pictorial papered boards a little unevenly sunned; spine slightly bumped with a tiny tear; initial leaves a little cockled; title page lightly stained; overall a very good copy. With the colour pictorial bookplate and ownership label (crossed out in ink) of pioneering desert field archaeologist Professor Mike Smith AM (1955-2022). La Cotte De St. Brelade is 'the largest and most productive cave or rock-shelter site in the British Isles [and] was originally made famous by the discovery of a rich Mousterian industry, fauna, and eventually fossil traces of Neanderthal man at the turn of the century' (Cambridge University Press website).
