About This Item
New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1979. x, 217, 8 pages of black and white illustrations, publisher's half cloth binding, dj with some rubbing and looseness, not price clipped, edges nibbled. Itself a cover-up, the book conceals more than it reveals of the CIA's plot, master-minded by the author, to overthrow the government of Prime Minister Mossadegh after he had nationalised the assets of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company in Abadan in 1953, Of great interest is the plot, running in -parallel, to achieve the same end, led by British MI5. The installation of the Shah, which resulted, coupled with the rising resentment against western interests did much to consolidate populist sentiment and was a cause, if not the major one, of the Iranian Revolution of 1979. There is an enignmatic gift inscription on the ffep "For John Hollingsworth, I'm sure you remember some of the players, Ed. Mc...."- John Hollingsworth is presumed to be Lt. General John Hollingsworth, Chief of Military Intelligence Operations at the Pentagon. The signature is unreadable. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾". First. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾". Book.
