Hardcover of gray cloth over boards, titled in silver on spine and front cover also large photographic pastedowns on both front and rear board (portraits of Close and Holman.) Original price sticker affixed to bottom corner of rear cover. The book was issued without a dust jacket. A collection of 20 extraordinary daguerreotype portraits (each reproduced to full page size) by Chuck Close with poems by Bob Holman, specifically written for the portraits. (Holman was the founder of the Bowery Poetry Club.) Sitters are Laurie Anderson, Lyle Ashton Harris, Cecily Brown, Gregory Crewdson, Carroll Dunham, Ellen Gallagher, Philip Glass, Bob Holman (also featured as the back cover pastedown) Elizabeth Murray, Elizabeth Peyton, Andres Serrano, Cindy Sherman, James Siena, Lorna Simpson, Kiki Smith, James Turrell, Robert Wilson, Terry Winters, Lisa Yuskavage...and a self-portrait of Close (also featured as the front cover pastedown.)
