Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1909. First edition thus. Hardcover. fine. First seperate and first illustrated edition. Decorative blue paper covered boards lettered in gilt and with gilt window featuring the silhouette of a woman; buff cloth spine. Color illustrated endpapers featuring charming scenes of Cupid in each of the four seasons. Unpaginated (56 pp.) with lovely illustrations and decorations in full color by Keller throughout. Lowell's short prose piece is the subject, apiece which appeared at the end of the introduction of the Second Series of The Bigelow Papers. Fine, fresh example of a lovely art nouveau-period book, slight toning to the spine strip.
