Collins, London, 1943. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/No Dust Jacket. Red coloured boards with black coloured titles to the spine. A novel based on the life of the child prodigy Thomas Chatterton. He died at age 18. There has been raging debate since his death as to how prodigious a talent Thomas Chatterton really was. This novel, the author, contends that he was all he was reputed to big and much more. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the backstrip and to the Booker Corners. Browning, foxing and dust marks to the top text block edge and browning to the other text block edges. Lower text block edge, uncut. Some fading and rubbing to the book panels and the backstrip is quite faded. Browning to the internal pages. Previous owner's name and to the free front endpaper and original bookseller's stamp to the lower lefthand corner of the free front endpaper. On the rear endpaper as a previous owner has pasted the front fold over panel blurb and a newspaper article from 1944. Second impression of the First Edition.
