Portland, Maine, Nd(ca.1885): Chisholm Brothers. First Edition. 5" x 6" Publisher's embossed red cloth binding with a gilt title "Cowboy Life" with image of cowboy on front cover. The last 3 leaves are detached but all 22 images are present. They include sepia photographs: Cowboy, Pitching Bronco, Hitting the Breeze, Roping a Steer to Inspect Brand, Branding on the Prairie, Cow ponies Taking a Rest, Riding a Yearling, Taking up the Back Cinch, Thoroughbreds with Hereford Bulls, Hereford Calves, Cutting Out, Ropings. A Pony from the Herd, Group of Cowboys, Cowboy and Pony, Throwing a Steer, Skinning a Beef, Pueblo Indian Dancers, and the Mess Wagon. The first pictorial book devoted to cowboys on the range. Binding is intact but worn around the edges and joints.
