About This Item
New York: The Macmillan Company, 1914. Reprint. Very Good. Early reprint. Signed by Rabindranath Tagore on the half-title page. Bound in publisher's original blue cloth stamped in gilt with covers illustrated by T. Sturge Moore. Very Good. Toning, spotting and light edge wear to cloth; toning, foxing and occasional spotting to contents with offsetting from illustrated plates. Small area of mesh exposed at front endsheet. Books signed by Tagore are scarce. A writer, poet, playwright, composer, philosopher, social reformer and painter, Tagore is credited with reshaping Bengali literature and music as well as Indian art with Contextual Modernism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
