About This Item

New York: Chartwell Books, Inc, 2007. Presumed First U.S. Edition, First printing. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. The format is approximately 8.5 inches by 12 inches. 208 pages. Illustrations. The Whitechapel Murders--Significant Events. Index. Introduction: The Myth of Jack the Ripper; The Ripper's World, The Murder Casebook, Forensic Files, The Usual Suspects, The Devil Made Him Do It; The Scotland Yard Files, and Summing Up: A New Suspect. This is an oversized book and if sent outside of the United States would require additional shipping charges. A pictorial excursion into the dark underbelly of Victorian London. Paul Roland (born 6 September 1959) is an English singer-songwriter, author and music journalist. Roland typically writes his songs in the form of stories, often addressing historical figures, characters from literature and film, or his own creations. He has explored genres including gothic rock, psychedelic pop, folk and baroque. Described by Music Week as a "psychedelic cult celebrity", Roland has enjoyed an underground career as opposed to mainstream success, gathering a stronger fanbase in mainland Europe than in his native UK. He has been credited with spearheading steampunk music. Aside from his recording career, Roland has written for various music magazines, and has authored numerous books on subjects including popular music, crime, World War II, and the supernatural. After scrupulously re-examining official documents of the time, investigative journalist Paul Roland strips away decades of myth and misconceptions to reveal the identity of a brand-new suspect who has never been seriously considered until now. Includes re-examination of the official Scotland Yard files, original post-mortem reports, contemporary witness statements and the private correspondence of detectives. Well illustrated dissertation on one of the most infamous investigations of all time. An impartial investigation that focuses on the forensic evidence.
