Elzevir Society, 1892. First Thus. Leather Binding. Very Good. Volume Three of the Essays, Works of Thomas Carlyle, Volume 24. Attractively bound in period 3/4 red morocco over marbled boards, spines with raised bands and gilt floral tooling within compartments surrounded by gilt scrollwork, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers (slight wear). This volume is from the 26-volume set of Carlyle, with text based on the Appleton edition (and apparently printed from their plates). It is undated (date supplied by Worldcat). 'Edition de luxe. This edition is limited to 100 copies, of which this is no. 36.'.
