About This Item
Historian and Cromwell expert Fitzgibbons turns his attention to the remarkable tale of Cromwell's head. Three years after his majestic funeral in 1658, Cromwell's corpse was removed and 'executed' at Tyburn, first hanged and then decapitated. His head then embarked on three centuries of adventure encountering a whole range of serious and not so serious observers, until it reached its final secret resting place. The book tells the macabre tale but at the same time provides a telling portrait of the great parliamentarian.
Book is in excellent condition. Pages are intact, clean, unmarked and uncreased. Cloth covers are clean and tight. DJ in nr fine condition and unclipped, just one or two slight indents on cover. All essentially generally as new. Now covered in professional removable clear book cover. 240 pp including bibliography, index, notes, colour and B&W illustrations
