Temperance Brennan, who is the heroine of a series of books and now a tv series, is a real person. She gets irritated, ratty, and sometimes difficult and so do her friends. This story starts out with the autopsy on an orthodox Jewish man, who has been wounded in such a way that his face needs reconstruction. When a stranger slips her a photo which he says is ?the cause of what happened? to the man, a little study soon makes it apparent that he is talking about a skeleton from Masada, in Israel. By the end of the story, both Temperance and her long-time boyfriend, Andrew Ryan, are sorting things in Israel, with the help of an Israeli detective and an anthropologist friend of Tempe?s. This is a really riveting story, suggestive at least of a different ending to the Jesus story than the one we have been told.
