Bound in light blue cloth, with protected, unclipped dw, endpaper maps of Antarctica, 30 colour photographs, 63 monochrome photographs, 9 maps, 338pp. On 24th. November 1957, 12 men set out from Shackleton Base equipped with eight vehicles, sledges and two dog teams to cross more than 2000 miles of unexplored snow and ice. In front of them lay unknown mountain ranges, an ice wall and innumerable crevasses.
