About This Item
New York: Grosset and Dunlap, 1916. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7. Grosset and Dunlap, 1916. Hardcover Book in Good Condition. No Jacket. Early reprint; no publication date stated; brief inscription on endpaper dated 1916. The minister, Phillip Strong, a true man of God, is called, at the same time, to a rough manufacturing town and to a genteel, academic town, the type of his preference. Feeling his true calling must be to the manufacturing town, he and his wife go to the town of Milton and his work begins. Many very readable sermons ripe with meaning for the people of his parish. A very likable man, as is Sara, a very likable minister's wife. Good luck at small town America in the early 1900s Bound in tan cloth with elaborate red and black blocked design on front, black lettering. Boards generaly clean, aged, frayed and worn on all edges. Backstrap is loose; binding is tight. Former owner name on endpapers. Foxing and smudging of some pages up to page 29; after that, pages clean and unmarked, and toned. A few pages dog-eared. 257 pages. 5 x 7.75 inches. Grosset and Dunlap, New York, 1916.
