London: W. Swan Sonnenschein And Co., 1883. 1st Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/No Jacket. 1883 FIRST PRINTING of First Edition with "1883" date printed on title page. Original olive green cloth with gilt lettering front and spine, decorated front cover and spine, original dark brown coated EPs. Superior condition example of the first edition with no restorations. Clean covers, minor fading spine, light rubbing edges with very tiny rub-throughs at corner tips (see photo), partial minor cracking at one gathering but binding remains strong and solid (see photo), tiny book collector's inventory stamp lower corner of the recto of the coated rear EP (see photo) otherwise no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, no foxing, complete with all pages and plates. The book measures 271mm tall x 195mm and has 256 pages, 16 b/w wood engravings, index. PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK BEING OFFERED.
