New York: D. Appleton, 1831. First Edition; 52 x 70 mm. Bound in contemporary full leather; gilt decorated spine; covers decorated with stamped, gilt lyres; some rubbing; very good. Inscribed by the publisher, “Georgiana Souther from D. Appleton, 1836.” He notes at the imprint “The First Book Published by [printed] D. Appleton.” An early owner has inserted a new front endpaper and has noted the history of this title on the verso, facing the title page.
