Bow Street, London: Joseph Cooper, 1789. Octavo, pp 122; 21, a little age-toned but otherwise clean and sound internally, bound in a fairly recent green half calf, very slightly rubbed. RARE. [A scarce work and a liuttle-known author. Of German extraction, he became chief forest-master to the King of Prussia. He came to England in 1770 and was appointed deputy-surveyor-general of the Royal forests. After serving in the War of American Independence he returned and entered the wine trade - a move which led to both him and his father being declared banrupt. He had a long-standing legal dispute with the British government for disbursements made by him during the Seven Years' War with Germany "in execution of secret services".]. First Edition. Half-Leather. Very Good.
