Decorative Cloth. Good/No Jacket. Folio - over 12" - 15" tall. Tedesco. 41 pages of text + 192 plates. A complete history of the printmaking team of Nathaniel Currier and James Merritt Ives. Currier and Ives described themselves as "Publishers of Cheap and Popular Pictures". Their pictures were incredibly popular. In the period between 1835 and 1907, they produced more than a million prints by hand-colored lithography. The prints depicted a variety of images of American life, including winter scenes; horse-racing images; portraits of people; and pictures of ships, sporting events, and Civil War battles. Animals, railroads, disasters, and even the sport of baseball were depicted. African American images, from the branding of slaves to Uncle Tom and Little Eva, were also produced. Pasted down title block and illustration on front cover. Decorative boards are tanned, and lettering on spine is worn. Moderate edgewear. Unmarked intact, po name on fpd <br/> <br/>
