Quoting from the front fold over panel blurb " ... She was a great and graceful little ship, the Cutty Sark, 'the last of the Clippers'– those famous, fast and beautiful ships which in the 19th century help to establish the supremacy of the British merchant fleet. Throughout her career she was one of the best-loved ships flying the Red Ensign, and hers is a glorious history. Here it is, told by a famous writer of sailing-ships and the sea, 1869 when she was built at Dumbarton for Captain John Willis, up to 1952, when The Cutty Sark Preservation Society took her over to preserve as a lasting tribute to the Merchant Navy."
