Cologne: Hero Fuchs (Alopecius), 1540. Second. hardcover. very good(-). Illustrated throughout with historiated and floriated woodcut initials; large woodcut Fuchs device on title (Heitz 137).Very thick 8vo, [16], 856, [22] pages. Bound in full contemporary brown calf; a Parisian trade binding with blind-ruled borders, gilt-stamped corner fleurons & central floral medallion (well-worn at tips with front cover detached and some loss at foot of spine). Coloniae: ex officina Heronis Alopecii, 1540. A very good(-) copy.<br/><br/> A very nice edition - apparently the second - of the works of the fifth century Augustinian who studied astronomy, mathematics and chronology, along with theology. Preceded by a short biography by Giovanni Antonio Flaminio and an address from printer Fuchs to the Cologne Senate, the present recension contains some spurious opuscula adopted directly from the folio issued by Gryphius in Lyon in 1539.<br/><br/>
