New-London: Samuel Green, 1820. viii, 106, [112pp]. Frontis. Later in 3/4 calf and marbled boards, new endpapers, gilt-lettered spine, red morocco spin label. Light toning throughout, Inscription of early owner on front endpaper, else very good. A fine example of a 19th century science-based guidebook on seaward navigation. "Navigation is here considered and taught as an art, that may be easily acquired by any common capacity; in which the problems are all resolved by inspection; which is well known to be the common mode of practice at sea and fully sufficient to answer any purpose in common navigation." (Daboll).
