About This Item

London: George Allen and Unwin Ltd, 1969. Hardcover. Translation by Claire Eliane Engel. 8vo. Black paper over boards, pictorial price-clipped dust jacket. 216pp. Illustrations. Very good/very good. Two discreet staple holes (that's right: staple holes) pierce near top of front board, leaving scrape on front flyleaf; jacket faintly edgeworn, mainly at head and tail of spine. A tight and attractive first edition of this scholarly study, volume 16 in this publisher's "Daily Life" series. Front flyleaf bears the nifty circular blind-embossed ownership imprint of noted television character actor Robert Casper (1924-2020).
