John Murray, London, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Very Good. Illustrator: Photographic. Index. The text is illustrated with black-and-white photographs stop black coloured cloth covered boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Illustrated dustwrapper with red coloured titles to the front panel and black and red coloured titles to the back strip. Black and white photograph of author the rear dustwrapper panel. The autobiography of Lydia Sokolova, the principal character ballerina for Sergei Diaghilev and his Ballets Russes from its early conception and till its demise with the death of Diaghilev in 1929. It is also the autobiography of the ballerina in the personal realm. Minor rubbing of the lower book edges and age toning of the text block edges. The end pages are tanned commensurate with the fold over panels. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with removal of a sticker to be seen to the top right hand corner of the front panel.
