About This Item

The Detective Book Club produced volumes of three crime novels from 1942 to 1999. Originally monthly, near the end they dwindled down to just a few per year. Many famous detective and crime novelists had their early works featured in DBC editions. Often, books were published in DBC editions before, or at the same time as they were published in mass market form. A little about our authors:

Gwendoline Butler: Bulter was a British writer of mysteries. She wrote 34 novels in the John Coffin series under her own name and another 21 novels in the Charmian Daniels series under the name Jennie Melville, She also wrote another 21 stand alone novels, split between the two names. Butler died in 2013. This is number 27 in the Coffin series.

Ann Dukthas: A pen name of P. C. Doherty. Some writers find one muse and stick to it. Sue Grafton wrote about little else than her Kinsey Milhone character. Agatha Christie had a small party of sleuths. P. C. Doherty has 14 series (including one just started in 2018) under seven different pen names. He has published upwards of 120 different novels and has had stories appear in other people's collections as well. This is the third of four in the Nicholas Segalla series.

Dorian Yeager: Yeager wrote only 6 books that made it into print and appears to have retired from writing at the young age of 48. Her two heroes were Victoria Bowering (4) and Elizabeth Will (2). This is the second book in that latter series.
