About This Item

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1939., 1939. First edition. First edition. 8vo. Inked presentation inscription on the front pastedown sheet: "To Hazel J. Achenbach with best wishes, Will James '39." Green cloth, titles stamped in black on the front cover and spine, xii [2], 306 pp., preface, illustrated by the author, color frontispiece by the author. Don Frazier,s THE WILL JAMES BOOKS, p. 130 says,"This is Will James' final novel and it is a nice one. The central theme horses win in their respective fields, and the rancher's daughter actually marries the cowboy and before the end of the story too! Although the book is certainly a novel, each chapter has a title, and most could stand alone as separate short stories with little or no change." Fine, bright, tight copy in dust jacket with light professional restoration to the spine ends and corners. Attractive copy.
