About This Item
Baltimore: The Johns Hopkins University Press, 1991. First edition. Violet cloth in dust jacket ; 8vo. 124 pp. Better known as a novelist, especially for his science fiction, his poetry, though clearly he is as well-versed (and with an equal wit) in formal technique as Marilyn Hacker (with whom he co-wrote his first collection), has proven too eccentric (gothic, light maybe) for mainstream publishers. As a force in American literature he is, however, difficult to ignore; as a critic he has been championed by none other than Harold Bloom: "one of our mere handful of accurate critics of contemporary poets". Published simultaneously in paperback this is the somewhat uncommon hardcover. Fine in a fine dust jacket (in removable protective archival covers).
