EARLY EDITION IN BOOK FORM FROM PARTS8.37" x 5.25", pp. xiv, 2-624, with all 38 illustrations and title vignette by H. K. Brown present and free of foxing. Attractive modern binding with original marbled paper over original boards, with still evident marbled edges. All points from Smith, except for page 132, line 20 ('screamed' in lieu of 'screwed') are present. Contains - half title, frontpiece. vignette title page, title page dated 1850, Imprint - Bradbury and Evans, Printers, Whitefriars, Dedication. 2 page Preface, 5 page Contents, 2 page List of Plates, 6 line erratta. Firm, tight text block has only occasional foxing dots, pages and plates with minor age darkening along edges, front piece has been reinforced, first several pages have light chipping at the corners.
