Consists of binder's leaf, frontpiece, titlepage, imprint- Stereotyped by J. Fagan, Printed by T. K.and F. G. Collier, Dedication, Preface dated October 1850. Pages 17-327. * illustrations by H. K. Browne. Titled in gilt with illustration of "the friendly waiter". 9x5.5. Perhaps a variant - covering as Smith listed for "Cloth" but contents are more in line with his "Boards" issue. illustrations are inserted in pages differing from his cloth list. Frontpiece is plate 7 as listed for cloth. The "1" is missing on pages 21 and 31.
Condition: A very collectible issue. Rebacked with new cloth and large fragment of original spine laid on. New end papers. Text and illustrations free of foxing. Paper aged as usual. Does not contain "Contents" page and catalogue. Board edges are scuffed.
Synopsis
