About This Item

This is an unread first edition of David Milne, a 1991 book about the Canadian artist (1992-1953) who is now regarded as one of the greatest painters of his generation. His work is generally classified as 'modernist' and his focus was mainly landscapes although, as this book shows, his choice of subjects were widely varied. The book contains 150 plates, of color paintings and his black and white drawings.

Co-published in 1991, by the McMichael Gallery near Toronto, and the Vancouver Art Gallery.

This book has spent its life lying on its side on a shelf. Until now, it was never opened. So it's pristine, although there may be a little yellowing to the edges of the pages.

224 clean, creamy white pages. Essays from several art historians and curators are included.

Mint condition. Lovely book.
