Marked at edges) with gold gilt lettering to front cover & spine, but on spine the gilt has partially worn off; spine has blackened; cloth at spine ends & cover corners fraying; eps are green/white fern type design; tissue protected frontispiece b/w illustration of Henry French, rather than Hume's colour frontis. ; tissue has foxed; Publishing details state Spencer blackett, successor to J & R Blackwell - so very early 1 volume edition; no mention of reprints or earlier editions in book; contents generally clean & sound, blocked page foredges have blackened a little; G; ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
