Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Moderate tanning to spine. Gilt lettering is darkened.

Stated first ed., 1943, second printing "manufactured in strict conformity with Government regulations for saving paper;" deckle edges; 279 p., immaculate and unmarked anywhere--not ex-lib., no former owner's name; paper mildly age-toned, darker in gutters; unfaded black boards with clear gilt lettering on spine, well-protected by pictorial d.j., itself protected a little less well by brodart cover--there is discernible if slight wear to crown of spine and foot of d.j. and front edges.
