Gordon Parker provides a readable guide to dealing with deprression. He covers both traditional and alternative approaches to treating depression. He outlines the many different types of depression, including mood swings, clinical depression, and bipolar disorders. Each type of depression is explained fully and is accompanied by suggestions for treatment. While depression may be severe and disabling, it can be treated successfully - providing it is diagnosed and managed properly. The author is professor of psychiatry, University of NSW, and director of the Black Dog Institute.
