The First UK Printing published by Gollancz in 1938.The BOOK is in VERY GOOD++ or better condition.Moderate pushing to the spine tips with some dulling of the gilt titling.Light toning to the text block.Tight copy with clean pages and free from erasures and inscriptions.The WRAPPER is complete and is in VERY GOOD++ condition.Mild edge wear in places with light loss at the spine ends.Small closed tears at the spine ends, and at the lower rear spine fold.Light toning of the spine but less than usually encountered.The book has been SIGNED by the Author to an official 'The Book Society' bookplate which has been pasted to the front endpaper as called for.One of the author's key titles and very scarce with such attributes.Ashtonrarebooks welcomes direct contact.

Synopsis

Elizabeth Bowen was born in Dublin in 1899. She wrote many acclaimed novels, including The Heat of the Day and Eva Trout . She was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in 1948. She died in 1973.
