About This Item
London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1934. Hardcover. First Edition, First Impression. 5 x 7.75in. 319pp. Publisher's cloth boards. The former copy of Vincent Starrett with his ownership signature neatly on the half-title. Starrett and Freeman were friends and peers who presumably shared a sincere mutual respect, dedicating novels to one another and anthologizing each others work repeatedly. Additionally the former owner copy of Norman Donaldson with his ownership signature beneath Starrett's. Donaldson was the bibliographer and biographer of Freeman who writes of the relationship and thematic connection between the two in his "In Search of Dr. Thorndyke." VERY GOOD. Shows marginal shelf rubbing along the extremities, spine toned and rubbed with slight furrowing of the cloth, a small non-pertinent former owner label at the front paste-down, half-title with very light off-set, otherwise the binding is strong and tight, the text is clean and unmarked, and the boards remain bright and distinct. As pictured.
