About This Item
London, Printed : And, Dublin; Re-printed in the Year MDCCLII., 1852. Book. Good +. Quarter Leather. 12mo. Quarter-calf & marbled boards.Wear to upper spine, upper front hinge cracked but intact, strip cut from the top of the title page to remove a prior owner's signature, which has entirely removed the word "A" from the beginning of the title; owner's ink stamp at the top of the first leaf of text, very good otherwise. The title page is quite foxed and discolored. A response to the 1850 work: An Essay On Spirit, authorship of which was assumed by Clayton; the authorship of this response has long been ascribed to him as well, but he claims to not have written it..
