Illustrated dustwrapper with blue, black and dark purple coloured titles to the front panel and gold and white coloured titles to the back strip. Black and white photograph of author to the rear fold over panel. The Depths of Glory spotlights one of the most important, endearing and enduring figures in the history of art: Camille Pissarro, a brilliant, prolific painter, and the central figure of the French Impressionist movement. Set against the vibrant canvas of 19th century Europe, Pissarro's story begins as he arrives from the West Indies, where he grew up, to study painting in Paris, and there comes under the heading influence of Corot and the "Barbizon school"." -- front fold over blurb. Age toning of the pages. Offset tanning to the end pages with gift inscription, dated 1986, to the free front end page. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners, lower back strip corners and top back strip edge. Rubbing of the edges and of the dustwrapper panels.
