Very Good. 527 pp; an account of the Deep-sea Dredging Expeditions written for the general public showing that these undertakings and expenses added to human knowledge and to give the results of the work undertaken; with 84 highly detailed line drawing illustrations; 11 vignettes; plus 8 double page maps and plates in color; including 1 fold-out chart; maps and fold-out are in Fine condition; in blue boards with gilt stamping and gilt to top of page edges; has gift inscription on half-title page written in pencil: "handyman, from his uncle Isiah O. Low."; boards are slightly scuffed, corners bumped anf frayed; head of spine noticeably frayed; less so to foot; hinges split (We are assuming that Isiah O. Low is a member of the seafaring Low family of Salem and New York, whose ancesters helped build the Commonwealth of Massachusets and were prominent in the China Trade in the mid 1800's.).
