About This Item
The First UK printing published by John Lehmann in 1947. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Light toning to the text block. Offsetting to the end papers with further offsetting from a newspaper clipping of a poem "Palma' by Alan Ross which was formerly taped to the front end paper. This is now loosely inserted but has left a small tape remnant to the front end paper. Two small further tape remnants to the rear end paper and pastedown where presumably other clippings were once attached. Bookplate of Geoffrey Woolley to the front pastedown. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition with just a little rubbing at the spine ends and corners. The John Minton wraparound wrapper design looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Geoffrey Woolley was the 'The Times' Letters Editor from 1953 to 1982. Scarce. Ashton Rare Books welcomes direct contact.
