Description:
London: T. Flint, 1827. First Edition. Hardcover. Slight worming in the gutter of some leaves and the outer margin of one plate, not affecting the text. Foxing, mostly moderate, heaviest to title page and a few plates. Binding solid with some rubbing to the hinges and spine tips. Very Good. Octavo (5-1/4" x 8-1/4") bound in later calf and marbled boards with new endpapers and a gilt-lettered and decorated spine; xvi, 367 pages. Illustrated with a lithographed frontispiece, bound after the title page here, and 11 plates, including 4 hand-colored costume plates, by Louis Haghe. A scarce title that rarely comes up for sale. Abbey, Travel, 265: "This was probably Louis Haghe's first work in England, done at the age of twenty-one."
